Publishing open access articles in SAGE and Taylor& Francis journals with a discounted open access fee

The researchers and authors of University of Jyväskylä are entitled to publish their articles as open access in SAGE and Taylor and Francis hybrid journals with a discounted APC (Article Processing Charge) rate from the beginning of 2017. The discounts do not concern open access journals.

SAGE

According to the agreement made by FinELib consortium the researchers can publish their articles as open with 200 GBP when acting as a corresponding author of the article. The undiscounted APC rate would be 1 600 GBP.

It is extremely important that the author will be responsible for the discount since the publisher will not make any refunds retrospectively.

The discount will be applied to these SAGE journals.

The instructions for publishing the article as open in SAGE journals:

1) SAGE informs the author of the acceptance of the article and makes an offer to publish the article via open access.

2) The author completes an OA acceptance form, where he/she can find a “institutional code” box.

3) The author enters code “FinELib2017” into this box.

4) SAGE invoices for £200 instead of the standard APC rate.

When the article has been accepted the author has to fill in the code in the acceptance form and see that the invoicing will take place with a discounted APC-rate (200 GBP).

Taylor & Francis

FinELib-consortium has agreed with T&F that the researchers can publish their articles as open with 860 euros when acting as a corresponding author of the article. The undiscounted APC rate would be 2 150 euros.

NOTE! Discounted APC is possible only in journals on level 2 or 3 in Publication Forum rating.

Open Science Centre (library) organizes the payment of the discounted APC fees.

The instructions for publishing the article as open in T&F journals:

1) T&F sends corresponding author an acceptance message of the article. Publisher informs about the possibility to publish the article open access.

2)  The library contacts the author and checks whether he/she would like to publish her/his paper open, if the paper is published in journal on Publication Forum level 2 or 3.

3)  The library sends a confirmation to T&F and corresponding author about the discounted APC and takes charge of the payment.

4)  The author confirms the open access license chosen in the T&F publishing system.

The questions concerning the discounted APC payments can be sent to Information Specialist Irene Ylönen or Librarian Arto Ikonen.
